The film picks up 57 years after the events of Alien. Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is rescued from deep space by a salvage crew after drifting in stasis. She learns that the planet LV-426, where her original encounter with the alien species took place, has been colonized. However, communication with the colony has been lost, and Ripley is persuaded to return to the planet to investigate.
Upon arriving, Ripley discovers that the colony has been overrun by the xenomorphs, the alien creatures from the first film. The colonists, including a young girl named Newt (Carrie Henn), are trapped and in dire need of rescue. Ripley joins a team of Colonial Marines, led by Sergeant Apone (Al Matthews), to confront the alien threat and rescue any survivors.
The film introduces new types of aliens, including the Alien Queen, a massive and menacing creature that commands the hive. The tension escalates as the Marines face intense battles with the aliens in the dark, claustrophobic environments of the colony and its facilities.
