The story begins with Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman), a high school student with ADHD and dyslexia, struggling to fit in. His life takes a drastic turn when he learns that he is the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea, and that Greek gods still exist in the modern world. He is accused of stealing Zeusโs lightning bolt, a powerful weapon that has gone missing, causing tensions among the gods.
To prevent an all-out war between the gods, Percy is taken to Camp Half-Blood, a sanctuary and training ground for demigods, where he meets other children of gods, including his best friend Grover Underwood (Brandon T. Jackson), a satyr, and Annabeth Chase (Alexandra Daddario), the daughter of Athena. With the help of his friends, Percy embarks on a dangerous quest to find and return the stolen bolt to Zeus before the summer solstice.
During their journey, Percy encounters various mythical creatures and challenges, such as Medusa (Uma Thurman), Hades (Steve Coogan), and the Lotus Casino, a modern-day version of the mythical Lotus-Eaters trap. Along the way, Percy also learns more about his true heritage and the role he must play in the looming conflict between the gods.
