After the events of part four, the IMF (Impossible Missions Force) must testify before the government. CIA Director Alan Hunley (Alec Baldwin) believes that the IMF’s activities affect national security and convinces the committee to decide to disband the organization and recall its field agents.

Meanwhile, secret agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his associates are searching for evidence of the existence of the Syndicate – a mysterious criminal organization believed to be the mastermind of a series of disasters that have occurred around the world. He is suddenly pursued and arrested by the Syndicate right at the IMF headquarters in London. However, thanks to the help of a mysterious woman (Rebecca Ferguson), Ethan Hunt escaped and he warned the IMF superiors about the existence of The Syndicate but they did not believe him, so Hunt had to form his own group including Benji Dun, William and the mysterious female character to fight against The Syndicate while trying to escape the pursuit of the CIA.
