The World’s End (2013) centers on Gary King (Simon Pegg), a middle-aged man who has not moved on from his wild teenage years. Obsessed with finishing a legendary pub crawl he and his friends attempted years earlier, Gary persuades his old friends—Andy (Nick Frost), Peter (Eddie Marsan), Stephen (Paddy Considine), and Oliver (Martin Freeman)—to return to their hometown of Newton Haven and complete the 12-pub journey.

As the group revisits their old haunts, they realize that the town has changed dramatically. The locals now seem eerily different, and they soon discover that an alien invasion has taken place. The townspeople have been replaced by emotionless, robotic duplicates known as “The Network.” These aliens are part of a plan to assimilate humanity into their collective consciousness.

Gary and his friends are thrust into a battle against the alien invaders while navigating their strained relationships and unresolved issues. They must reconcile their past, rediscover their camaraderie, and confront their personal failings in order to stop the alien threat and prevent the impending apocalypse.
